Children's ministry is an opportunity to disciple young lives—to get them ready for life as followers of Jesus Christ. The Children's Ministry has selected Great Commission Publications curriculum for our lessons. GCP's Sunday school curriculum disciples children by rooting them firmly in God's Word. If you would like more information regarding GCP, you may go to http://www.gcp.org/.

The elementary program is divided into three groups of children, based on their school grades.

promise KIDS
(1st & 2nd Grades)
The children learn about God's promises.
The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off –
for all whom the Lord our God will call.
Acts 2:39

Covenant Kids
(3rd & 4th Grades)
The children learn they are a part of the church family.
Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him.
(Psalms 127:3)

Redeemer Kids
(5th & 6th Grades)
The children learn about redemption and new life through
the work of Christ.

Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come and has redeemed his people.
(Luke 1:68)

The focus in these classes shifts to a deeper understanding of the Bible as well as the Catechism. Students are taught Biblical principles and learn to apply these truths to their lives.

In the 5th and 6th grades, teachers begin to prepare children for the changes that will take place when they move into the Youth Program. Being part of the church and of God's family is stressed since many of these children will join the church during this time in their lives.

We believe that small group discipleship and accountability is an important component of Christian growth, therefore, we consider a child’s involvement in Sunday School and Catechism when interviewing children for membership at First Presbyterian Church.

Kid’s Quest, our children’s catechism program, begins at 5:45 p.m.
We generally offer 4 classes: 4 year olds, 5 year olds, 1st graders and 2nd-5th graders.

Kid’s Quest Program
• A time of praise and worship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
• Bible lessons, designed to help kids understand the truths contained in the Westminster Confession of Faith and how to rightly apply them to their daily lives.
• Children are given the opportunity to memorize and recite the confessions they have learned.

The catechism we use covers the following key Biblical doctrines:

• The doctrines of God including His nature and attributes.
• The doctrines of man.
• The doctrines of grace, sin and salvation.
• The offices of Christ as prophet, priest and king.
• The Ten Commandments.
• The Lord's Prayer.
• The meaning and place of baptism and communion.
• The doctrines of resurrection, judgment and the Lord's second coming.

Choir
At 6:30 p.m. the children go to choir where they sing, worship God and play music games. You may check here to see the Children’s Choirs that are offered.
