Short-term mission experiences are those cross-cultural missionary assignments ranging from one week to one month. For many years, First Presbyterian Church has offered these mission opportunities that impact people in both their physical and spiritual lives. In 2007 over 50 FPC members participated in two summer mission trips to Mexico.

SO, WHY GO ON A MISSION TRIP?

-To better understand what it is like in other countries.

-To better understand people and their universal needs.

-To have more empathy for missionaries and the problems they face.

-To have a greater appreciation for what you have at home.

-To have a greater vision for missions

-For the advancement of the Kingdom of God.

UPCOMING MISSION TRIP

Reach NYC
June 4-8, 2008

Operation Exodus 2008
Operation Exodus Inner City's mission is to promote spiritual growth, higher educational achievement, and leadership for under-served children with an emphasis on the Latino community in Washington Heights. Through quality after-school education, caring mentoring relationships, school placements, and parent workshops, the transforming power and values of Jesus Christ are demonstrated.

This summer, an FPC short-term team will take the Gospel into Washington Heights by ministering to the school-aged children of Operation Exodus. Through tutoring, arts and crafts, creative activities and sports, participants will help students develop the necessary tools needed to complete high school. Additionally, teams will lead daily worship and share the "good news" that can change their lives.
