First Presbyterian Church is not a homogenous neighborhood group.
People from all over Macon attend First Presbyterian. The challenge
of this size and geographical
diversity is to keep our members connected. At First Presbyterian, we are accomplishing
that through our Small Group Ministry.
Folks who have participated in Small
Groups find that they feel more connected with the church at large,
and that they develop deep friendships that could
not have come about without the groups environment. Small Groups are a safe
place
to ask questions, build friendships, and experience mutual care and support.
On the other hand, the church benefits from this feeling of ownership which
develops when people come together over a common cause. Indeed, Small Groups
are a proven
way to make friendships while growing spiritually.
Home Discipleship/Study Groups
These groups provide an environment where spiritual and Biblical growth towards
a defined target can occur through study, discussion, and life application
in a committed and caring group.
Ladie's Groups
These groups meet during the day at the church to provide a caring environment
where spiritual growth can occur as lives are shared and the Bible is studied.
Men's Groups
These groups meet at various times and places to provide support, encouragement,
and Bible Study.
Grad
& Career
This group provides a place for people in their twenties and early thirties
to connect, grow, and serve God. If you are in college as an undergraduate,
post-graduate as a grad student, working in a career and/or a young married
couple or anywhere
in that place between High School and the thirty-something crowd, you are
invited to check out this small group.
Wednesday Night Equipping and Bible Studies
During the fall and winter the Pastors and key leaders lead equipping and
Bible studies at the church. A dinner is served each week in the Fellowship
Hall and
companion programs are offered for children (choir, nursery, Junior High
Youth).
Do I have to know a lot about the
Bible to be a part of a Small group?
The primary focus of Small Groups is to care for one another based on Biblical
principles. As you participate in groups you will discover those Biblical
principles.
Am I expected to pray out loud at my Small Group?
No, Small Groups are intended to provide a safe environment where individual
comfort levels are respected. People are not expected to share beyond their
comfort levels.
Where do these groups meet?
Most groups meet in homes. A few of our groups meet at the church.
Our Small Group Ministry is directed
by John Kinser. He will be glad to help you join or start a Small
