The Macon Fellows program is a nine-month, Christ-centered leadership development program for recent college graduates who are seeking to learn, work, grow, and serve together in preparation for building Christ’s Kingdom in their future vocations. The program has grown out of an awareness that many young people today desire the spiritual development necessary to become part of the next generation of Christ-centered leaders in the marketplace, in ministry, in their families, and in their communities.
But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.
The year is spent studying what it looks like to be a follower of Christ in our vocation, in our city, and in our relationships. The Fellows’ paid internships, their community service, ministry area focus within the church, seminary class, Fellows Bible studies, mentoring by an older Christian, their host family living situations, and involvement with the young adults group become the teaching ground for putting into practice what is learned.
The program is based at historical First Presbyterian Church, a flourishing church in downtown Macon. It has a dynamic student ministry in which the Fellows are taught principles of discipleship while leading small groups of their own. Youth Ministry and/or College Ministry internships at First Presbyterian may be available to Fellows during the summer.
As a Fellow, you will see the strengths, weaknesses, beauty, pains, and potential of Macon. The goal, however, is not just to observe, but to engage. Through internships, service, and daily life, you will be faced with countless opportunities to live and bring life into this city.
