Proclaim: A Congregational Concert for the Glory of Christ

PROCLAIM: A Congregational Concert for the Glory of Christ
Sunday, October 27 at 5 p.m.
Join us for an evening of congregational singing to
“…proclaim the excellencies of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9
At most concerts there are two groups of people: the ones making the music and the ones there to listen to the music. At our “congregational concert” the two groups will be made up of exactly the same people; you will be the musicians and the audience!
The most important instrument in our church’s music is the singular voice of the entire congregation. In Worship by the Book, Kent Hughes puts it this way: “The congregation is the chief instrument of praise, the one indispensable choir!…Music is everybody‘s responsibility in the church.” Paul also makes that clear in Ephesians 5 when he tells the church to “address one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord in your heart.”
“Few things encourage believers as much as hearing their brothers and sisters in Christ joyfully sing of their common redemption, and a loud, corporate exultation in Christ’s person and power communicates the magnificence of the gospel to unbelievers” (from Gather God’s People by Croft and Adkins). Please come on Sunday, October 27 at 5 PM for a time of singing to God and to each other. Invite unbelieving friends, encourage each other to attend, and come ready to proclaim the glory of Christ.
